Podcast Intern, Motherboard

VICE started in 1994 as a newsprint monthly in Montreal and is now a global youth media company that includes print, events, music, online, television, and feature film divisions that operates in over 30 countries. Motherboard is VICE’s science and technology site.

Launched in 2009, Motherboard finds the people and things that are making our weird and wonderful present and future, with news, commentary, in-depth reporting, photos, and original video documentaries.

Whether it's politics, art, sex, drugs, war, design, nature, space, history and sci-fi, Motherboard's award-winning journalism skips the useless tech hype to make room for the things that are actually reshaping our world.

Overview:
Radio Motherboard is a weekly show about how technology impacts culture. We’re looking for an intern who can pitch episode ideas, help with recording and research, be on the show from time to time as well (if they pitch an idea we like, they will have the chance to produce it). The intern will also help out with a new podcast we will be launching this spring.

The intern will have the opportunity to write, fact check, and research for our website, though we'd like to have most of their time focused on podcasting.

Episodes of Radio Motherboard are available on iTunes and all podcasting apps, as well as on Soundcloud.

A strong interest in technology, science, and culture are preferred—we're not interested in the specs on the newest gadget, but we're interested in, for instance, the security features of that gadget, how humans will interact with it, and the environmental and cultural impact it might have.

Qualifications:
- Must currently be an undergrad or graduate student (intern doesn't need to earn credit but cannot have already graduated)
- Interest in or obsession with internet or offline subcultures, science, and technology
- An interest in podcasts and audio as a form of storytelling
- Reporting, research, and audio experience is a plus, but genuine excitement about the subject matter is most important

Logistics:
- Pay is $11 per hour, 20 hours per week max (two or three days a week)
- Candidate must be eligible to work in the US
- Program runs from January 31 through May 5
- Intern must work out of our Williamsburg, Brooklyn office
- Candidate must provide their own computer
- Candidates can apply directly to jobs@motherboard.tv with the subject "Spring Intern."
- Include a resume in PDF form and a paragraph about why you want the job. No need for a full cover letter. Audio or written clips are also appreciated.

We're looking for someone quick! We need to fill this position by January 6.

Equal Opportunity Employer.
