Whenever there’s a product launch of any kind, there are numerous unboxing videos of it on YouTube. That can include anything from video games to toys to consumer electronics, even comparatively mundane stuff like non-special edition games where you have a good idea of what it’s going to look like before you watch the video. These have now been taken to their logical extreme: the virtual unboxing video. And it should come as no surprise that the community making these a thing is hardcore Second Life players.
Let’s be honest: You have to be REALLY hardcore to want to watch these. They’re half an hour long and consist of Second Life players slowly going through their new collections of virtual stuff, complete with exciting folder structure browsing. When you consider how tedious character creation can get in any game that offers it, watching it without participating is not a super compelling proposition. But if you’re a Second Life fan and on the fence about whether or not you should buy the new Treasure Chest or BishBox, then you could certainly do a lot worse than researching by watching the new “unboxing” videos.from Unboxing Videos Are So Popular They’re Now Being Done in 'Second Life'
