'Overwatch' Meets 'GoldenEye' in the Shooter Mashup We Wish Was Real

Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch is easily one of the most popular first-person shooters around right now, but back in 1997 GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64 was the shooter on everyone's minds. The games may be two decades apart, but YouTuber Noilleber recently smashed them together to show us what it'd look like if Blizzard characters like Torbjörn and McCree traded bullets and rivets in James Bond's world. And honestly, it's pretty awesome.

Noilleber sets the whole thing in Overwatch's Dorado map, which stands in nicely for the decades-old aesthetic of GoldenEye. Little touches evoke GoldenEye at almost every turn, whether it's Torbjörn's gameplay nods to GoldenEye's much-maligned Oddjob or the blood that spills over the screen when you die, accompanied by the iconic James Bond riff.

Our love affair with GoldenEye 007 hasn't cooled much in 20 years, and modding it or modding other games to look like it remains a popular pastime. Just like summer, modders were  busy recreating GoldenEye 007 within the original Doom engine and updating fan-made remasters of GoldenEye with new effects.
